First off I am new here and own a 2007 S60 2.5T. Here is my problem
This past weekend the brake failure message came on as well as the ABS light an DSTC (I think that is what it was.. looked like a car on a slippery road). This happened and then all was fine after about 5 seconds. Did it again later that day and same thing after about 5 seconds. No noticeable performance issue what so ever.
Fast forward to today and now I have the same brake failure message along with the following: DTSC off, engine system maintenance, ABS, the slippery road light, the odometer does not work but the speedometer and tach still work, the instant fuel MPG quit as did all the items like avg mph, avg mpg, distance to empty read 9999, cruise also quit working. I disconnected the battery and this did nothing.
I have been reading online about numerous similar complaints, but they seem to also have the motor in limp mode or no speedometer.
The car drives fine with not hint of any issue other than the lights.
I have what I consider above average mechanical ability so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Greg

Sounds like it might be your battery on it's way out or something with the elec. charge system. These cars like full voltage to run all their systems. Take a look at the battery and it's connections. Take them off and clean the terminals and leads with a cleaner or wire brush. You should also leave the leads off the battery and connect them to one amother for 15 minutes to reset the system. Take a look at the alternator and it's electrical connections to make sure they are not corroded and correctly torqued (do that with the battery disconnected). Also check all of the fuses in the kick panel and under the hood. If none of that helps take it to auto zone or the likes and have them test you battery and alternator. If those are good take it to a shop that can read Volvo codes because it is more than likely a bad component at that point. Hope this helps.

It could be. Might also check all of the ABS connectors at each wheel. One of them might have worked itself loose. If not then it very well could be a bad ABS module. You will need a code reader at that point.
Thanks all for the replies!
Last night I put the battery on a battery tender to make sure that the battery was fully charged and when I started the car this morning, I still have all my fault messages. Not sure about the alternator, but I would think after the battery was on the tender all night that even if the alternator was suspect, the fully charged battery would have masked the alternator until the battery voltage dropped. I also checked the brake fluid level and it was good.
Anyhow, here is my current state with all my faults:
Brake Failure message on the display
Engine System Maintenance message on the display
DSTC Spin off on message display and cannot turn back on
AVG MPH and AVG MPG not recording while driving
Odometer does not record while driving
Gas remaining to empty reads 9999 miles
Instantaneous mileage on the message reads zero’s
Tripometer does not work
Cruise Control does not work
ABS light illuminated
STC light illuminated
Red Triangle Warning Light illuminated
Steering Wheel seems like it requires greater effort while parked or slow moving
When I get home from work tonight I will check all the ABS sensors. Having done a lot of reading on the net, I like some suspect the ABS module. The part I do not understand is how an ABS module affects the odometer, instant MPG, AVG MPG/MPH?
Also by all appearances the car is running and performing fine with no appearance of anything wrong other than the lights and messages.
BTW If I pull the ABS module and send it off for repairs, can I continue to drive the car with the module removed or does this make the car non-operational?
Thanks
Greg

I ended up going to one of our local parts stores and had them scan my car for codes and none were found. I am suspecting the ABS module after a lot of reading, but I have not read a single instance of repairing the 07 modules. Does anyone know if the 07 ABS Control Module can be repaired like the older modules, or do I need to buy another module? Also, I have read that if I get a new module, I will need to take to the dealer for a software load and "marry" of the module to the car. Is there any thruth to this or can I simply install the new/used module without the software issues?
Thanks
Greg

Sounds similar to an issue i have - i've just had the flexi plate and starter replaced as well as a full srvice and cam belt replacement, however 2 days latter, after a short journey the car wouldnt start again. We jumped it but half a mile later the warning lights went crazy the car lost power and died.
The AA got in home using a batery pack but suspected the alternator - garage have since replaced the battery and tested alternator and no sign of a power drain.
Cutting a long story short - am now on brake down number 3 where the same thing has happened with the warning lights (Anti skid, ABS, yellow then red triangles, air bags...) going on and off for a while then the car loosing power and dying. To get it going i've had to remove the battery and charge for a short whils and it gets it home!
I had no electrical problems whatsoever before the flexi plate job, so am thinking somthing wasnt reconected properly when they put the engine back in..
Any suggestions welcomed!

So I sent the ABS control module to Xemodex for repairs and got it back today. I disconnected the battery, installed the module, re-connected the battery, and started the car. Same ole same ole. Did not appear to fix anything. I drove the car for about 15 miles incase it needed some miles to calibrate or for what ever reason, and still no help. I will check all the ABS sensors but I doubt that one of those would cause the odometer to quit working as well.
Anyone have any thoughts other than take it to the dealer?
