Radio Security Code doesn't work

Post by charlie »

Help! The other day I took it upon myself to replace the little bulbs that illuminate the control panel of the radio in my S70. (They're on the front circuit board behind the faceplate.) Now the security code doesn't work. I'm sure I have it right - I checked and double-checked with the dealer. But when I enter the code, the display remains on CODE.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Yours in silence,
Charlie

Was your radio replaced by the previous owner? If so then it won't match your VIN#. The radio itself has a serial number on it...believe the dealer has match-ups for these too, so it would probably be a good idea to ask them. Other wise, post back and I'll help you search this down. Just remembered something else...many people write the code number with a sharpie on the radio itself, so it might be worth taking it out to see.

No, the radio wasn't replaced. At least according to the dealer I visited, everything is in order. It's the original radio.

I got no sound, man. I'm lonely in the car.

I recently purchased a volvo and the radio did not work. I went to the dealer and got the code. When I enter the code it displays 3 letters that are not all there. Looks like it says ape as in tape? I purchased a radio on ebay and will install over the weekend. Any advice on the change? Do I just unscrew the 2 screws by the ashtray?

The dealer can take your radio that doesn't work with the code and re-flash the radio with a new code. If you have a STealer that is trying to sell you a new radio don't go back - if they will try to BS you about something simple like a radio you can not trust them with the more complex and expensive other parts of your car.
