S60 Satellite radio
S60 Satellite radio
I have a 2006 S60 with the HU-850 Premium sound system. How can I tell if it is capable of receiving satellite radio (with a paid subscription). Is there anything I can do to make the system compatible if it is not already. I was hoping I wouldn't have to hook up an external satellite radio.

That year model had an option for a dealer added sat radio. The controls are in radio and it is fully integrated but it takes a module that goes in trunk and a sat radio "puck" antenna on the roof just in front of rear glass on roof.
I don't know if the same thing is available aftermarket.

Thanks for the great info - I bought this car used (err, I mean pre-owned), what would I be looking for if I wanted to check to see if this module is already in place. Can this installation only be done by the dealer, or would a shop that works on Volvos exclusively be able to do it. Thanks, again.
I talked to the service dept at my local volvo dealer and it took them a long time to figure this out. They ended up giving me a price of $623 for the parts (I think this would be the module), does that sound about right or are they missing the point of what needs to be done.jimmy57 wrote:That year model had an option for a dealer added sat radio. I would e-mail Tasca Volvo. They are the best price for OEM things like that.
See what their price is. The install is easy and instructions are included. Then you go to dealer and have the software done. It has been a while. It could be plug n play but I tend to think there is a small software pkg.
