Wanted: Engine oil dipstick for 2002 XC70, pref in Detroit

Post by Dorion »

In the frenzied excitement of replacing the alternator on my XC, my friend snapped the plastic tab-top off my dipstick (which tab promptly fell into the otherdimensional portal everyone has between the bottom of your engine and your earth surface). It's still perfectly usable, stops where it's supposed to, but I now need needlenose pliers to check the oil.

A new dipstick from Volvo is, of course, close to $40.

If someone in the Detroit area has one to spare/sell, so I can pickup, let me know. Otherwise, I'm going to hot-glue a Godzilla figurine or something on the end of the thing.*

Thanks!

*No fair holding back a replacement dipstick just because you want to see me hot-glue a Godzilla into my engine compartment. Don't think I'm bluffing... I'll do it.

Don't be so cheap
Buy a new one as a used one will probably soon break like yours did
(Most do over a period of time)

You're going to be around the same price whether you get one used locally (good luck), order it online or get a new one from the dealer.

You can always steal a complete car and have unlimited parts...in Detroit you'll only get probation on your first offense.

haha Now THAT is information I can use. ;)

Actually, that probably wouldn't do me wrong... I keep losing dumb little parts, like one of the blades from my headlamp wipers and ONE electrical retainer clip. I'm not real crazy about this steering wheel either...

Sorry, I just checked the part number and it is for the s80 T6. Do not think it will work for your sled. Did you get your fuel problem taken care of?

I had my alternator take the big vacation last year. I got one from the Autozone that was a Bosch replacement for just over U$200, maybe U$240 with life time warrantee. Was a pain in the arse to get out but with 200k miles on it, it was time. Anywho, glück.

That's probably the same alternator I just put in, which seemed to solve a lot of other weird problems.

Swapped the injector that seemed to be the troubled one, and we're performing better than ever. Next, either the custom tentacles graphics OR the pushbars, not sure which. :)

I need one too, 01 S60. Broke the same thing at the same place when cleaning the ETM. I swear the car feels like it has a vacuum leak now, even if nothing is overtly wrong. Seems low turbo pressure at low rpms.

You are just asking for inappropriate responses when posting about a leak with a handle like priapism...

But I'll try to persist, for 6 hours or more.
