I had my 1999 s70 loose power and die while driving the other day. It would start and then die. I did the battery reboot to reset it (like I did when I had the immobilizer go nuts a month ago and kept the car from starting), and it did the same start and die thing. I disconnected the mass air flow sensor, and it started and ran. But died about 5 minutes later. The codes after that read Mass Air Flow and Intake Air Temperature, but i figured that is because I disconnected the mass air flow, and they maf and iat are made together on the 1999 S70. I never got the immobilizer code this time. Now, it has been in the mid 90's for the last few days when it acted up. Today it was down in the upper 80's, and it started and ran fine, like normal. No new codes since I cleared them with my scanner yesterday. So, I cleaned the maf and reinstalled it. I will see how tomorrow goes driving it to work.
I say all that to see if anyone has trouble associated with high temperatures and the start and die condition I have?

How is your temp gauge behaving? A bad ECT sensor can also cause your problem but that will normally show up with an abnormal reading on the gauge in the instrument cluster. It will not necessarily set a CEL unless it is unplugged.

Wait, no. It's a 1999. That may be your antenna ring for your ignition key since it's starting up and then shutting right back down.

I haven't got the immobilizer code yet. I am going to check the connections for the antenna ring, to make sure it it contacting good. It might be a good measure to replace the antenna ring, it isn't too expensive.
Does anybody else have their dash mounted security light not flash? Or is that a sign that something may be wrong with the security system? I guess I need to put my window down and lock it with the remote, then I can open my door by pulling up the lock and opening the door to see if the alarm sounds. That should tell me if it is working.

Yes - sometimes the connections corrode up and causes them to stop working. Try some electrical cleaner on the plug.
The security light only flashes when the doors are locked.

My dash light doesn't flash when the doors are locked with the remote, or by the key.
Start and die update...I stopped to get gas (not much in case it is a fuel tank related problem) and after I started it and drove off, it acted up again - tried to die, I gave it gas and it kept running.
But, still no codes.

Update...
On the way home today the car acted up again. And we are above 90 degrees again today.
It acts like a carburetor with a stopped up fuel filter.
But, still no codes on the computer.
So, I am going to start by replacing the fuel filter.
I looked in VADIS and it didn't exactly show where it is located, anybody know where the fuel pump is located?
I just got it home on the wrecker and haven't crawled around to find it yet.
I am hoping that if it is the fuel pump, that may be why I am not getting any trouble code????
Thanks!

My experiences with bad fuel pumps is that they are fairly binary. They either work or they don't. On occasion you can take a baseball bat to the bottom of the tank and get home.
I had one get me a couple of blocks home after it originally died but the rest were terminal on the spot and a tow truck was the next call. The scary thing was that the one that got me home had totally charred wires in the fuel tank. I had a fairly full tank of fuel then so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
You are correct in that low fuel pressure won't set a CEL but it will sure keep the car from running.
It sounds like a VOM is in your future. We have full schematics hosted on the site.
