adding an FM Modulator to a Sirius Radio

Post by smp319 »

Has anyone added an fm modulator to a Sirius Starmate and installed this in a 02 Ss60? I can't seem to find where I can plug the antenna into the modulator. I used the directions which were posted on this site to remove the radio (the climate control unit is a pain to get out!) and noticed the antenna plug will not fit the modulator. Also is there anyway to connect the unite directly to the cars power instead of having a wire dangel over the dash.

I was doing additional research and found that you need to purchase two additional componenets to install it into a volvo. You need two seprate adapters to connect it to the antenna. So the $19.99 solution to eliminate interference ran up to $60.

You need 2 (two) antenna adapter cables. One for the male to female from the modulator and one from female to male. The pitfall is that the Volvo uses dual antennas to improve reception snd the adapters utilize only one of them. This reduces the fm reception of the stock stereo but in theory you'll be listening to sattelite anyway right? :)

Yhe cables are 20 bucks a piece and pulling the stereo is a challenge but don't be affraid to use what would seem excessive force to remove the climate control unit. Good YANKS will loosen it.
