PCV - Oil trap Deposits

Post by jdanielbaker »

I'm in the middle of a pcv replacement on my s40. When I pulled the oil trap off, I noticed the port on the engine block (that connects to the oil trap) was completely blocked with deposits. Does anyone have any advice on cleaning this connection into the engine block?

Pull out as much as you can. It is a common blockage for low quality oil or infrequent oil changes. Some will make it into the oil pan and I always do an engine flush with the flush from Amsoil. Then refill with synthetic if clean or cheap oil to repeat flush.
Remember to change the filter with every flush as you loaded it up with particles. I use the amsoil flush as it breaks down the sludge and holds it in suspension. ( so it comes out with the oil change.

Thanks! i've gotten the sludge out of the immediate exterior port but do i need to clean beyond this? there is a small hole that leads to inside of the engine block. can i damage anything by trying to clean in there?
