DIM interchangeability...

Post by carboncow »

I know model years are specific and have a need for a 2003 XC70. Seems like 2001 are unique 02-03 are interchangeable and possibility 04-05 are too but from many posts on many boards I've read.

My question is I found a C70 (2003) is it safe to assume that XC70, C70 and S60 are interchangeable in a given year? I know the code can be check on the bar code label but I have not got to the point of inquiring to any sellers yet. Just wanting to see what someone knows for sure as options I can pursue.

At this time I'm not to interested in attempting to fix my own. I've read some great writeups but it seems 50% of those claiming success at DIY repair are back online shortly saying it got funky again.

EDIT: OK it looks like the C70 kept the old school dash for quite a few years past the P2 update. Yuck.

No interchangeability betweeen 04 down and 05 up. Major change in network for both speed on high speed part and in computer protocol.
C70 is a whole different car line from anythin else produced in 03 and shares very few pieces with anything else of that year model. DIM is COMPLETELY different. Isn't even the same shape and has no message center.
V70, S60, XC70, and maybe S80 have some interchangeability

Thanks Jimmy I forgot to consider S80s as their setup is at the least similar looking.

I was rather surprised once I did some more research how long the S70 kept that old school dash. I wonder why they took so long to update them.
