What's going with my s40? Is it good or bad?

Post by AriezS40 »

I have a 1.9L turbo s40 2000 Volvo. Works great. Well i think. About a month ago I had the fuel filter replaced and I immediately felt a super great increase of ease of acceleration. Very light per say.. Yesterday when I went to work the car started normal and felt like driving normally when I noticed that the acceleration on the car was so smooth smooth as silk. It was so easy to accelerate no hesitation from the engine no delays. Shift perfect. But I felt like as If I lost power going at higher speeds. I feel like when I'm doing 70 the engine should be stronger. I should hear the engine and feel more power.. Shouldn't I? It idles at about .4 Rpms a little less than the 1k mark. It doesnt smoke I have no check engines lights on the car. I feel as if the acceleration on the car is faster.. I put NGK iridium spark plugs about 2 months ago ad it has castrol synthetic, it has been super hot here not sure if that plays into effect. I hear no weird noises from the engine even though I felt as if I caught a faint smell of gas in my oil when I removed the cap.. Any idea guys? Thanxx

Normally a strong smell of fuel in the oil means your running rich, which makes sense if your old filter was clogged. Your coil packs may be tired and can't burn the fuel efficiently at higher speeds now, you may also want to reset your ecu by pulling the terminals off your battery and letting it sit for a while, ecu's have a memory an some what adapt to the driver and driving conditions so if your filter was clogged and you drove it like that for a good amount of time your car will try and make up for it. Anyways I'm no professional but that is where I would start.
