Hi Matt,

As of today I have received email alerts to responses via my ISP from this site. Perhaps it's fixed now, I don't know yet. I'll have to post again and see. Had you changed anything recently?

Two things going on here... Justin's thing and Viper's thing.

First, Justin: Here's my theory about why you don't get notice of replies... the forum software on the server recognises that you've been on the board, and the "flag" for sending emails to you about topic responses is flipped from "don't send" to "send". The problem with Tapatalk is that (from my reading about it and briefly looking a the code) is that it's not the same as an actual browser visit. It's one step removed. Meaning, when you visit with Tapatalk, even if you're logged in as you, the board software doesn't know you're here. We can test that easily by not visiting in any form for a couple hours, then visiting on your phone with Tapatalk. Then from a browser that has no MVS cookies (ideally one that's never been to MVS at all -- download iCab or Safari or something), go to https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/ and see if you're listed as being here. I'm guessing you'll not show up.

Viper, I'll get back to you, sorry. I hear my son waking up from a nap. Gotta take him to my mom's for her to watch him.

I'm Mr. Mom today.

Let me know if your ISP gets back to you, Viper.

In addition to matt[[at]]matthewsvolvosite.com, add
funtent[[at]]gmail.com
www-data[[at]]matthewsvolvosite.com
*[[at]]rockmusic.matthewsvolvosite.com

... to your "whitelist" or contacts.

Of course, change the [[at]] to @ symbol

Email me at the funtent email address if this doesn't make sense.

And please, unless you like self-torture, do not contact AT&T. At least not until my server admin looks closely at the way my server is sending out mail. He said he'd do it for free if I started $150/mo contract with him for regular maintenance, and tracking down email rejection isn't part of regular maintenance.

I'll let you know when he's looked/acted on MVS server email.

I believe you're right. I have made a few replies via Taptatalk tonight but haven't received emails. No big deal I suppose; I was just wondering about it.

I sent viper a PM today and he said he did receive the email notification that he had a message from me. So...something fixed that issue I suppose.

The site DOES show me as online (from opera from my phone which doesn't have my login saved). I haven't accessed the site from my laptop at all tonight - I'm sitting around studying and TRYING to avoid distractions

The "Mr Mom" thing reminded me of the Lonestar song. Kinda a cute music video, but you probably hate country music (it's ok; most people do :D).

So you hadn't been on the site in a while, hours at least, then jumped on it via Tapatalk, then looked at the site in a brand-new browser, and you were listed as being on?

If so, then that kills my theory. Thanks.

Hi matt,

Everything on my end seems to be working as I mentioned before. I haven't changed anything. Something happened though.

Good to hear. I haven't done any server changes yet, so it must have been an anomaly.
