'01 S80 w/222k miles: Trans Service Urgent msg + no shifting
i have a 2001 Volvo s80 t6 with about 222,000 miles on it, it has run fine up until now, however yesterday it started shifting hard literary jerking me in my seat every time it shifted. after about 3 miles it shifted fine. today i went in my car and drove to work and the car was stuck in third (3rd) gear. switching to geartronic didn't change the gears. also i have a Transition service urgent message on my dash. any help would be appreciated

I guess you haven't been able to try to read DTC's? Sounds possibly like one of the shifting solenoids has failed. Try to get the codes read.

also what is the approx cost of a rebuilt transmition for my car
I have a 03 S80 T6, and the trans went (torque converter) around 115K miles. The symptoms described above sounds quite similar to what I went through. Rebuild cost, AAMCO, $3300. Right after the 1 year warranty, it went again. Thankfully the manager felt pity on me and fixed it without charging me labor. Now I'm a DIY'er. I'm currently reading engine theory, then on to transmissions. With the help of this forum and how to DVDs, I'll be ready for what I laughingly call a car I brought NEW, my T6. Good luck with yourT6 asiantaylo!!!
