I have a 93 850 GLT and the climate control unit has begun flashing the AC and Recirc lights whenever I start the car and turn the fan control slide control on. Also the fan does not come on at all on any setting. Here's what I've done:
Pulled codes 211, 414, and 418. Haynes manual says 211 means "Drivers side damper motor position sensor open circuit or shorted to 12 volts." It says 414 is drivers side interior temp sensor inlet fan seized. Last, it says 418 is "no control signal to blower fan power stage." Easiest thing to tackle was the driver's side inlet fan so I pulled it, took it apart, cleaned it and it spins freely - also plugged it back in and it spun up immediately.
Everything I've read on here indicates fan motor and/or fan motor resistor could be bad. I have both off of another 93 GLT and am thinking I should probably try them but here are my questions. The donor car has 177,000 miles - is there any way I can test the resistor and fan before going to all that work to put them in? Should I just buy new ones? Should I replace the damper position motor too? (That looks REALLY unpleasant to do)Thanks for any help at all!

I'm guessing all the codes are comming from one of them......I say, just replace them both, my damper has broken too.....so I just rigged it to get fresh air and I have no problems.......
yes......It is an 850!
Thanks for the input - I think that's what I'm going to do. Although as these wierd things tend to go - it's working again! Arrgghhh!! these things drive me nuts. Anyway thanks again - I think I'll just leave it alone as long as it works then replace at least the resistor if it messes up again.
