I had a door with bent trim, and the clips were pulling away, as well as a faded color. I used a flat screw driver, a torx T-15 with a rachet, and a can of bumper paint. The bumper paint has lasted 6 months on our V70 without any sign of fading, so I chose it for the trim also.
The front door, and the back doors each have one screw in the back that "locks" the trim in place. Once removed the trim piece slides forward and slips out of the attachment holes. I think the pictures make it evident. The small forward trim piece has just two clips that go into round holes. One of the clips on ours broke due to the brittleness. It wasn't a problem, as I had just returned from the junk yard with fresh pieces to replace the bent ones.
I carefully pried the front piece off with the flat screw driver. The clips may stay on the car, in which case, that is good. You can then work the plastic out of the hole carefully. Once off, you can press them back onto the moulding with a screwdriver.
The door moulding is very easy. No clips to remove, just a screw at the back. It is covered by a small round black plastic cover in the rear of each door. The rear door also has a lip of rubber over the plastic cover. I dropped one screw, and then began using a magnet to take the screws out of door. Once the screw is off, slide forward and the piece comes off. Again, the pictures will help.
I painted all with the Bondo Bumper Paint. It is a flat black that is smooth, and durable.

Good write up. Sometimes you have to see the pictures from when someone did it to make it easy when it's your turn (and so you don't bust any clips:)
I did a similar clean up of 850 door trim. I used Showroom New dye (http://www.showroomnewproducts.com/). They have a black and grey dye. Black for the door trim and the dark grey for the 850 bumper trim. It is super original looking and it will wipe off if you accidentally get some on the paint. So much easier than bumper trim paint. I have used the trim paint to restore the worn roof rails but for this trim I love the Showroom New dyes.
