I am not sure what markets have what engine but I am assuming you have a 5254T motor. It is actually a 2.5T if I am not mistaking. The inline Volvo motors are pretty strong and occassionally need "The cobwebs" blown out of them. This assures that valve seats and faces have good seal
and gets air out of lifters "cars with hydraulic lifters. Keep up on preventative maintenance items and you shoul make it to the 200K club at least. Also depending on the year you should have the timing belt replaced
@70k miles (older than 1999) or 100k miles (1999 and newer) or every 5 years, which ever comes first. If the timing belt breaks so does the motor.

Happy Motoring!

Voltech1, how do you "get the cobwebs out," as you say....do you mean drive it hard occassionally, or use AutoRx or something in the engine? I read your thread about the pcv system clogging, also causing the engine to end up with sludge. I believe I've avoided this with a pcv hose and oil trap replacement but do want to keep the engine nice and clean inside. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Btw, is the Voltech for Volvo or are you a Vols fan (I'm from Knoxville, Tenn...Vol's territory....lol)?

This is also refered to a "blowing them out" by the graybeard gearheads. Run your car at WOT to help blow the carbon out of the system. If you have a strong drivetrain this can be a lot of fun. If you have a weak link in your drivetrain you may find it.

voltech1..

my engine code is B5204T4, 2000cc LPT producing 163bhp and 230nm of torque. in malaysia where i stay, this is considered the 'new' engine in the last batch line up of S70 production. it's year 2000 car. in 20001 the volvo plant in malaysia stop S70 production and introduced the S60 ranges.

so do u think this B5204T4 also tough motor? the compression ratio is high compared to other volvo turbo series.it is 9.5:1 compression. am i right to say that my engine is a detuned one from the motor used by S80 LPT 2.0 that produce bigger power...180bhp.

my motor is excellent in city driving, very responsive. but long journey cruising on highway, it quite underpowered. cruising at 100-130 km/h is ideal speed, occassionally 140km/h still okay, but above 140km/h feels out of breath.

as for timing belt, the mileage is 95,000 miles now..and already changed the belt twice.

thank u
