Fuel Injectors

Post by Matt »

Everyone,

I have a 1993 850 and this problem has occurred three times in the past 6 months. The engine will turn over but it wont catch. I had it looked at and the guy said nothing was wrong except that the engine had flooded. He cleaned it out for me and it ran fine for a couple of weeks when it happened again. I took it back and he did the same thing for free and it ran fine for 4 months.
Last night the same problem occurred. Does anyone have any tips for taking care of a flooded engine? Has anyone else had this sort of problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean the starter motor will turn over but the pinion wont spin once engaged catch to the driveplate? if this is the case a new pinion gear will be need to be installed to the starter motor, what has happened is the clutch mechanism has worn so bad there are no teeth left inside to engage the starter motor drive to and therefore wont spin the engine. this needs to be replaced or you may find one day it wont engage at all and you'll be left stranded.

1) change to better engine oil, synthethic to prevent valve failure which lowers compression and engine does not start, cranking engine floods engine.

2) do not stop and start engine, engine must run at least 2 to 15 minutes until you hear all valves properly seated.

3) change to unleaded octane 97 will prevent throttle and injector problems which floods engine.

4) 850 does not accept cheap oil and petrol.

HOPE THIS HELPS
