Are the engines the same in an 850 and S70

Post by righty0160 »

I have a 1997 850 Base model with aq 2.4 20 valve engine. I just bought a 2000 S70 with a 2.4. Is it also a 20 valve engine and are the 2 cars comparable in reliability. I swear by my 850. Any opinions on both these questions?

The basic engine design is the same. The major differences come with the newer systems that control the engine...electronic throttle control, no distributor & individual coil wires, etc.
