Hi my name is Otis,
A few weeks ago my wife was going to work and the ABS light come on. Yesterday I went to the dealer to have them do a diagnostic check on the whole car. I drove 208 miles around trip to the dealer and they told me it was no need to do a diagnostic check they assuered me that it was ABS module that was out. I want to the parts department at the dealership and they told me the part was $875.45, that would be ok if I was working I am out of work and I am trying to do the repairs myself. The manger at the dealership said that I can do a hard reset by taking both the pos. and neg. cable of the batter by putting them together and holding them for ten mintues, hook them back up if any lights come on then it is a problem there. Have any one heard of doing that? I read on this websit that you can repair the ABS module yourself so I took it off and open it up and look on the inside with a magnifying glass and could not find anything wrong with it. I aslo read the module that I have on my car part number 8619538 that some one had took it apart and could not find anything wrong with theirs also. Is there another way to find out if there is anything worng with it? Can any one help my please? and I thank you for your reply

You won't see anything wrong with a 8619538 or 8619535 visually. They have a different pin structure and are soldered differently than all of the other 92-2001 modules.
You can still reflow/resolder. I've never torn the board out of one of those to see if the crack is visible from underneath, but you won't see anything on the top.
The bad thing for you is that you have to put a 8619538 back on the car. Any of the other 99-2000 models can use any of the different part numbers of the STC modules.
