Hello ,I have an 02 s80 t6 with 135k and recently my transmission has been acting out.The service required light comes on and the car puts me into 3rd gear weather Im driving manual shift or autimatic. I can restart the car and drive in manual and I have all my gears with no slippage until the transmission service light comes on . Well today took it up to volcar and they hooked it up to the volvo computer 120$ charge and said I have and bad T5 solenoid in trans and "possible" clutch slippage. They told me Im better off trading this car in then replacing trans. Ive had this car barely over a year and have fixed front bushings ,tie rods, brakes, rotors, turbo hose , timing belt, thermostat , ac hose , all fluids replaced etc... Im going to pick up the car in an hour or so and get the print out from the computer to verify ive got this right but any help will be much appreciated ..
thank you ,
Zack

Zack, so sorry to hear of the many problems you’ve had/having with your T6. I too am a T6 owner (03 brought new!) and have gone down the road you are currently on. I curse Volvo/Ford on their collaboration in building this trouble car and practically ruining Volvo reputation. First, remember the goals of the dealership are selling, and then servicing your vehicle. It goes without saying if they cannot service your car, why not sell you one. That’s why you were told trade it in. The dealership knows you are very unlikely to replace the tranny and they do not repair them, so that’s why he suggested you trade and buy. Take your car to a tranny shop and have them check and give you FREE estimate on what it will take to fix the problems you are having. After reading all the work that has been done so far, I’m betting you’ll be okay for awhile if you decide to get your trans repaired. A quick dealership story: I was told that I needed control arms, stabilizer links (front and back), upper torque mount, air bag module, and a long list of other repairs. Also was told buy another car. I then told myself buy an automotive theory text book, join a forum and buy an online subscription for Volvo repair plus tools. Fixed all the problems they diagnosed and saved a boat load of dough. Good luck!
