What part is this?

Post by bitec »

Hi all,

This is the first of many posts I hope as my wife and I are big volvo fans having just bought the 1997 V40 and about to buy a 2006 XC90.

A little background to my question. About 2 weeks ago the V40 bgan running very roughly in that each time I'd apply accelerator the engine would miss and splutter. I put this down to an air leak in the exhaust system that may be sending false readings to the fuel injection sensor. I finally got round to having a look and this is what I found - see photo below:

What is the name of this part with the broken port so I can order it? Here it is with respect to the engine.

The car is currently sitting on 160,000km so I guess this is a wear issue. Its simple to replace just hard to find the part when I'm not sure what it is. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi guys, here is an update to close the loop. I sent a photo to a volvo dealer and this was their reply.

Hi Mick,

It's called a shut off valve and we have one in stock. They are normally $206.09 inc GST but I could do it for $175.18 inc GST.

Postage would be $12.00 + on top so the total will be $188.38 inc GST.

So there it is. I think I'll get it as the savings in fuel efficiency alone would make up for the price...... mick out
