cold start problems

Post by jessyinelk »

Hello to all. I stumbled across this site while I was looking for a PCV valve or equivalent for my car. I read quite a few pages of this forum...then decided to post for myself. Some other S40T owners have had problems with their car not wanting to start (turning over but not running). No one had answered their request...but I thought I might try again. My 2001 s40t does not like to start on cold mornings unless you give it some fuel. Then it will not idle by itself until it has warmed up for 5-10 minutes or more. It starts perfectly when the day is warm or after the engine has warmed. Are there any suggestions?

I was also looking for a PCV valve or whatever releases the the crankcase pressure. I had problems with the oil filler cap leaking... so I replaced it and still have leaks. I will probably try cleaning the throttle body...as indicated in the general forum. If there are other parts I should replace, please let me know. I have had problems trying to find a repair manual for this vehicle. I appreciate the opportunity to post here and will be thankful for any advice all of you can give.

:)
