bulb failure message

Post by markm »

I have a 2004 S80 with 2.9L . I get a message in the information display that says" bulb failure, position light ". I do not see any bulbs out on the car.

Does anyone know what the position light is?

Thanks

Ah, I remember having that same question. That's the taillight. You'll have to have someone help with figuring out which one is out, or find a handy reflection to see.

Don't be too quick to assume you have a burnt out bulb, I;ve replaced them several times and then when I didn't replace it right away, found that the message comes and goes, the bulb isn't always out - it could be a broken ground somewhere, and good luck tracing that one.

When I had my 2004 S80 T5 in for service I mentioned this message and they told me it was a defective tail light. They replaced them all because they thought it was a hairline crack or something on one of them that could be difficult to find. The fault only happened on long road trips so I too suspect some kind of short. However the bulbs were replaced under warranty.
