2001 S80 - AC abruptly started blowing warm air

Hi All,
My 2001 S80 (2.9) went from blowing cool air to hot air in less than a few minutes. Actually I first noticed that the humidity in the car went way up before I noticed that the AC was blowing warm air. I read some other posts about issues with the compressor clutch, but those comments seemed to indicate an intermittent problem which is not my case.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated!

I'll through my hat in this ring for help as well. Just got a call from the wife that hers started blowing hot air (100*+ in San Antonio today) but started working again after she made a stop at another store - got back in it and it worked. The same thing happened about 6-7 weeks ago.

As luck always has it - it's after 5:00 PM on a Friday!

Anyone have directions for either of us?

I'm going to tag onto this one as well. We just bought a 2001 S80 (non-turbo) and are having the same symptoms. AC works on initial use, for about 20 minutes and then starts blowing warm air. I'm noticing that the temperature gauge is straight in the middle. Not sure if this is normal or if it's part of the issue.

Check the Clutch, carefully push on it she if it engages, pins may be worn

Turns out a Volvo mechanic said the compressor was dead. We sourced a used compressor and the A/C is functioning as designed now. Hopefully this compressor will last for at least 2 - 3 years and I won't have to think about this anymore. Good luck to everyone else.
