Fan not on after I turn off the Volvo

I have a 2000 V70 cross country wagon with about 135,000 miles on it. I have noticed lately that th fan does not go off when i turn the car off to cool it down. I live in Central CA and it gets pretty hot here and often times when I get in the car it the car and start it up it will already be 100 degrees. The Volvo is not overheating as far as the gauge is concerned, but I know i need the fan to cool it down. I am open for suggestions. And if I need to replace the fan no problem I can do that.

It's likely the AC fan cooling the AC system and not the fan cooling the engine. My 01 V70 does the same thing and will run up to 10 minutes after I turn the car off on a hot day.

In the title you say it doesn't stay on, but in the text you say it doesn't go off after the car is turned off. Need to clarify.

The fan is not staying on. It use to stay on on a hot day just like the other person described above. I am concerned because it is NOT staying on to cool the car anymore. So, as i mentioned before my car is already hot when I start it. It's a weird situation.

The fan after-running is based on the engine load in the minutes prior to shut down and the coolant temp prior to shut down.
If you had a bad thermostat it was replaced or radiator replaced or you drive slower before you arrive home for some reason then any of those things would decrease the need for fan after-run.
I can get to my house two ways. If I come off one highway and do not climb a hill after driving 30 mph for 1.5 miles then no fan.
If I come another way at a faster speed and climb the hill to get to my house then consistent fan. This is in 105-110 temps we've had for two months. I have a 98 XC70 and it uses the same strategy for fan operation.

That is undersatndable then, teh weather has been coller her, so the engine is not kicking it on because it must not feel the need. i was just getting worried and did not want the fan to be broken or something. thanks for the advice.
