2000 Volvo S40, Having issues with radio, locks, and clock

Post by austinpdx »

Alright so I bought a 2000 S40 1.9T

103k
Just did a head gasket, runs and drives great everything is a-ok

This is my first Volvo, but I am very mechanically inclined.

Now the issues:

The radio will not turn on, just a blank screen.
- Checked all fuses all are in good working order.
- Pulled out the radio and verified it was connected.

What gives? I am trying the "leave the key on #1 for two hours" right now.

Next issue:
Whenever I turn the car off weather its 30 seconds, or all night the trip meter resets to "0"
Also the clock resets to 12:00

- Odometer is recording the correct reading and saving it if that helps.
- Speedometer and tachometer are working correctly.

I have no idea what or why or how? But I am hoping to get an idea of where to start looking to fix this issue.

Last issue:
The power door locks do not work, I have a weird feeling this might be tied to the radio issue?

- Checked fuses, tried to clean the connector on the power lock switch on the dash.

Maybe I am blind, but no music and a lack of power locks is killing me.

Thanks,

Austin
