Used ETM
Used ETM
Has anyone actually replaced an ETM with a used ETM and had it work? I'm looking to buy some time before I purchase a Xemodex unit. Mine is a 1999 S80 T6 and 'Ive read posts for and against so I am looking for practical knowledge here. I just want to know if it worked without programming so please only respond if you have actually replaced yours with a used unit.

Well since you've gotten no replies so far I'll chime in. I recall reading one instance where someone claimed to have put a used unit in and it worked. Kinda. It started but wasn't drivable. As far as I understand, the unit needs to be married onto the CAN bus and this can only be done with a DICE or VCT2000.
That said, its worth a shot. Buy a used one, pop it in there and see what happens. If it doesnt work out, see if you can return it or sell it on for less than you paid for it.

The software of the ECM and ETM must be matched. I don't mean "married" to each other but if ETM has version 2010.002 and the ETM is a 2010.002 then you're good (software numbers made up, just an example). If you were to find a 99 T6 ETM and the donor car was the same software version as your car (if you had the ETM campaign done the likelihood of them being matched is good) then it will be plug n play.
