Hi,
I'm looking for a good guide or tutorial on troubleshooting the Jetronic system on my 1988 740 Turbo Wagon. I had an earlier post asking for leads on services that test the AFM and ECU out of the car, but no replies. Any links?
Thanks,
Charlie Slayman

This is the only trouble shooter I have for that system. It is from a Volvo publication and does use some equipment not normally owned by the DIY mechanic but the majority is doable.

Hi,
My 1988 740 Turbo Wagon is not putting out any power at low rpm under load (2000-3000 rpm climbing up a hill). The engine has absolutely no power. There is boost showing on the gauge. It feels like spark is way off or mixture is lean under these conditions. There is no pinging or obvious misfire. Just no torque. Is there a mechanism that is supposed to richen the fuel mixture under boost?
The engine idles fine. Spark is timed correctly and fuel mixture is good with oxygen sensor operation OK. And at high rpm (>3000rpm on the freeway), the motor runs fine and puts out plenty of power.
Thanks,
Charlie
