Climate Control Problem

Post by prienzo »

Car is a 1998 S70 GLT. It has the climate control system where you can put it on auto and select a temperature. However, I noticed that this system wasn't really working anymore. I will put it on a temperature and it will just do whatever the hell it wants to. Then, I saw that the climate control led's blink when the car is turned on. This means there is a problem, right? I'm guessing that this is probably just a temperature sensor? If it is, is it expensive to fix. How easy is it for a DIY? Thanks in advance.

I have the same car. Seems to be a very common problem. Yes the blinking lights at startup means the system has a problem and has set a code.

Just to the right and below the steering wheel on the dash, you'll see a small (1X2) cover with a grate. That's the sensor. Sometimes it just needs to have the dust blown off. Use a little compressed air and blow into the grate and see if that fixes the problem.
