Steering wheel shaking
Steering wheel shaking
I own a 1994 850 Turbo wagon and whenever I press on the brakes to stop the steering wheel vibrates. I also noticed that whenever I drive my car above 65 mph the steering wheel vibrates until I reach the 80mph mark. It only vibrates in the interval from 65 to 80 mph. When I purchased the car almost a year ago I changed the CV boot on the driver side since it was torn. I'm not completely sure if I installed back the left axl correctly. In the case that I didn't install the axl correctly, would that be producing the vibration whenever I press on the brakes or whenever I drive above 65mph? I've read in this forum that many people have had this problem before and many people have suggested changing the rotors and doing an alingment. People also mention changing the strut bar. These are the two symptoms I currently have in my car and I'm not sure if both are related to each other. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I agree with Jabber on the rotors.
If you had a vibration while cruising down the road I would think wheel, tire, suspension hardware. But when you apply brakes that usually indicates warped rotors or broken pads.

I agree with warped rotors and even possibly tires that need balancing. I would do the latter (cheap) and if the issue doesn't go away, buy the regular zimmerman rotors here (because it's cheaper): www.fcpgroton.com
If you buy new rotors, you should also buy new pads...once again, OEM. There is more dust with them, but still the best with no squeeks (IMO)...also at fcpgroton.
