headliner fix

Post by dwyerob »

My 94 850's headliner is showing a lot of wear, anyone replaced theirs or have a better fix than the thumbtacks that I've been using?

Did my sons headliner a couple of years ago. It was relatively easy. The only piece i didn't do was the sunroof shade. Take the front seats out, this will make it easier to take out the old headliner.

The sunroof shade is probably the easiest part: raise sunroof, remove black plastic strips, remove front two torx bolts on both sides, remove sunroof, noting for reassembly just how it fits into the brackets. Remove shade the obvious way, with the spring catches. Peel off the headliner fabric. Be sure you scrape off the old glue to the extent you can, and use the proper 3M trim glue, available from IPD and elsewhere.

Is it easy to replace just the headliner on the sunroof? or do you need to do everything at once?

Best to do it all at the same time - you're already knee-deep in it; might as well finish it all!
