V70 - AWD or FWD?

Post by allenro »

I need to get a new car (used) and have my choice between a 1998 V70 FWD or a 1999 V70 AWD. Assuming all things equal (maint, int and ext) is one less trouble prone over the other?

Thanks!

Stay away from the AWD!!!. Lots of problems with the AWD system on the earlier models. Many people had so much trouble they disconnected the rear axle driveshaft and use it as a FWD vehicle. To add insulte to injury, a lot of the parts for the AWD cars (parts that you wouldn't expect) are 2-3 times more expensive.

OH YA! HERE HERE!! Run from ANY AWD volvo, especially the 'angle gear' machines. Also, 1999 was the first year for that other engineering marvel, the ETM - '98 ain't got....it's a no brainer - FWD baby! 8)
