Right side thumping?
On my 2001 V70 2.4T, I am getting a thump on the driver's side when I go over bumps. It sounds like it's coming from under the hood, but this is when I am driving. I looked and the suspension while moving the car up and down and didn't see or any hear unusual noises. However, something is loose or wrong and it seems to be getting worse. There is no feedback in the steering wheel or brakes when I hear the noise. Any sugeestions? Thanks

A weak point of our suspension is the front bushing of the lower control arm.
You can change the bushing by pressing a new one in or change the control arm.
Pry the bushing with a bar to see how much play you have in the rubber insert inside the bushing.

What is involved in changing the control arm
I experienced the same symptoms on my car at 75,000 miles.
Also It can be something else. Another common cause is a bad spring seat.

I forgot to mention yesterday that i could be the subframe. There is a silencer kit for this condition.
Look at this tread.

I installed it on my car and the front end became stiffer. However the front bushings of the lower control arms will need replacement.

If not the control arm, a broken spring seat would be another failure point

Wait, you can get a separate bushing for the front control arm? We just bought a set of control arms because the shop said there's no separate bushings available.

Guys, thanks for all the feedback. I found all the bushings at FCP for $10 bucks each! It also looks like changing them is going to be fairly easy. If anyone's interested in the bushings, here's the link.....

I'm also getting a noise from the right side, but mine is more of a clunk, and only during acceleration, or slowing down, when the trans downshifts.
I don't notice much noise hitting bumps and if I accelerate slow and smooth, there's nothing.
I've looked at the lower control arm bushings, and they show wear, but it doesn't look like enough to cause the clunking I'm hearing. I'm more concerned it could be the CV shaft.
All other suspension points seems good. And the wheel is on tight.
I've changed the right side motor mount under the crank pulley about a month ago thinking this was the problem. No change unfortunately.
Has anyone else come across this?
Thanks!!
