Rear door will not open

This is a 2005 Volvo S40. The right rear door will not open from the inside or the outside. The lock button is in the down position and it will not come up. It will not come up when you hit the unlock button or lift it manually. The other doors when they are locked I can lift the button up manually to unlock but not this door it's down and would not come up even using pliers on it. I removed the inner door panel and the panel that the speaker and window motor are mounted on and can see the electric latch assembly but not sure what to touch to open the door. Anyone have any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my 2000 S40. My locks would not unlock with the FOB or central locking system. I took the door panel off too and saw that the lock connects to the door latch and a good WD-40 bath helped solve the problem of the lock sticking. You don't even need to take the panel off again, just look through the latch. There also was a black cover that you could remove and gain even more access to the door, but since you can't open it take the panel off and soak the rod coming from the lock to the latch and let it sit for a bit then try to grab that bar and pull up.
