Hi,
I am new to the forum. I just became the owner of a 1991 740, w/ 107,000 miles. I do not have to much car experience, but would like to take on the more straight forward maintenance myself.
Can anyone suggest links or resources or ideas for instructions and/or tips on things like changing the cap, rotor, plugs, wires?
Thank you...

get a manual for your car (haynes, chilton, etc...) It'll help on all maintenance you want to tackle yourself...happy wrenchin'!

things that sometimes go wrong with volvo's:
fuel pump relay
clogged flame trap
intank prepump
air mass sensor
ignition module
I am not complaining I have a 1988 240 and a 740 and they are the best cars I have ever owned. Just wanted to let you know some things to be aware of. The only really expensive thing is the air mass sensor and you can buy a used one very cheaply from www.car-part.com just make sure it has the same number on it as yours. This forum will help you with any problem you have (with your volvo) they are GREAT cars. (not the new ones)
