Can 850 upgrade to 16" rims?

Post by nitink »

I have 95, 850 non turbo running on stock 195/60/15 tire and 15" wheel.
The tires are gone and wheels are rusted so I am wondering if I can safely move to 16" wheels ( i am getting them, used at a reasonable price, but 15" is not available!! )

I have no intention of racing this car, Just want it to look better and run smooth without breaking anything.

If anyone has upgraded their wheels please share your experience.

16's are OEM on some 850's...easily done...can even go to 17's and even 18's with the right tire, though 18's will require a very small profile tire, apt to break your rims on rough roads. 16's use 205-55-16 size and is a nice fit. Can even lower your springs with 16's, if you want.

Yes you can do that. Stock rims on my 97 t5 are 16". Tyer size is 205/50/16. Look good too. At least I think. I would like a set of 18" Volans or Heico's but child support restricts what I spend! :D
I am a current Volvo 850T5 owner. Have had '67 144ES, 71 142E, 76 245DL, 80 242GT, 81 245DL. Still wish that I had the 142E. :(

I scored an '06 Harley Dyna Superglide for Fathers day.
