Check the gasket on the oil filler cap.

Having the same problem, took a look at the rubber gasket and it was super hardened. I picked up a new oil filler cap at Autozone for $6.99 since shipping a new gasket would cost more money then replacing the whole thing.

Is replacing the oil cap the only thing you need to do? I have the same problem as mentioned above with my S40. It will also not idle, it just stalls when you take you foot off the gas pedal.

The answer is no.
1. You should replace your oil cap seal every 2-3 oil changes. You can get them under $4.00 each.
2. You have other issues that needs solving. Do you have any CEL lights on?

Do you have a scanner to check any codes, because you should have at least one? If not, can you drive it to Autozone and have them read it for free? You can inspect visually for any vacuum hoses that maybe disconnected. I would start. It could be one thing or a number of things; MAF sensor, Throttle Body sensor, etc,. Keep us posted so we can assist you further.

Replaced oil cap and will still not idle. Unfortunately, I do not have a scanner to check the codes. The check engine light was on before i replaced the cap and now the DSA light is now. It really does not want to run. Any suggestions?

You probably want to start a new thread for your problem so it won't get lost. If we could those codes to read that would really be helpful. Autozone might lend out their scanner like they do other tools. You put the deposit down for the price of the tool and then get it back when you return the car. There is a good chance that you are having some sort of misfire/fuel issue. Try to get those codes read and we can go from there.

Back to the oil cap seal: I get them at IPD (with other orders to save shipping) and use the rubber (silicone??). They will last a VERY long time with no drips!
