xc90 t6 transmission failure

My 2004 xc90 t6 transmission just failed. I found out this is a major problem naionwide and the new transmissions have a history of repeated failures as well.

Mine was purchased with 95,000 miles on it (I put on 54,000 more miles before it failed). Now I wonder if this is the first transmission failure for this particular vehicle. How can I find out if mine has been replaced before?

What's Volvo doing about it and are there any remedies in the works happening with regard to this problem?

so yours dies at 150k and you want volvo to pay for it? it is a 8 year old car.

its a GM trans in a 5000+ lb car.

You have to think long and hard if you want to re-invest $3000-6000 for a transmission or sell it as is for $2000-3000 if you can get it. either way, good luck.

Give it a shot
Volvo has been paying for all or part of trannies on XC90 T6s regarless of mileage.
They last about 60K plus or minus.
As was said, a tranny that was designed for a FWD 3000 lb car went into a 5000+ lb AWD vehicle!
Your dealer can tell you if it's been replaced.

If you have decent service records give it a shot, ask your Volvo service manager for help from Volvo
They paid for one I had with 118K and it was already on its second tranny
I would be really surprised if yours was the original trans
Oh and this was just last summer
