C70, No windows working. Need help.

Post by delta410 »

Both of my windows don't roll up or down now. It use to work on and off, now it hasn't for a while. I went to the dealer and they told me it's the window motor.

It just doesn't sound right to me, how can both window motor blow up at the same time?

It sounds more like a window relay or a fuse somewhere that I don't know of.

So what is your thoughts on it?

This is a c70 coupe not convertible.

I've seen this and it's usually the master controller on the driver's side when it has an effect on more than one window. Pop it out and clean all the contacts and try it again. Doubtful that it's the motors...I'm with you on this one.

Any tips on how to get to the master controller? Will I have to remove the door side panel?

Should just pop out. Take a blunt knife, like a butter knife and go from the side, prying gently. If you're afraid of damaging the plastic retainer, put some tape around the knife where it makes contact, or even a piece of cloth where you're prying. Good luck and let us know how things go.

Oh! By master controller you mean the window switchs correct? Just take it out and clean the connectors.

I cannot control the passenger side even with the passenger switch on the passenger side. Does the master controller control the passenger side switch as well?

Yep...from what I've read, it seems that way. When the main control unit goes, the other windows don't work either, or at least some of them won't in an S70, so I figure both on a C70.

Almost all of the time cleaning doesn't do poop, you'll have to replace the switch
