Yes, it would. Look for a leak upstream of the O2 sensor.

It can, it depends on where it is leaking. In front of the catalytic converter yes, behind the catalytic converter, usually not.

Have you had the codes read?

Definitely have the codes read. It may be something completely unrelated.

Post up a picture if you can. If you need help, shoot me an email with the picture and I'll attach it for you.

You can probably fix this with either an exhaust clamp or by having it welded at a shop.

I agree. I'm guessing it it from the flex pipe coming from the rear of the cat.

Classic problems:

1. REAR of cat where it meets the Front of Muffler: have a muffler shop weld it, about $50-60.

2. REAR of Exhaust Manifold is the Flex Pipe where it meets the Front of the Cat: for this search forum for:
- OBX (thread by Ozark Lee)
- Volvo OEM Exhaust Manifold, I posted a DIY recently, search for it.

Since the OP just posted that the leak is right behind the cat, you are both probably correct ;)

OP: here is an example from a couple days ago, where someone fixed this problem
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 6&p=211457

EDIT: and to answer your original question: NO, an exhaust leak back there will not cause a CEL to light up.
