Hello Friends,
Please help me. My wife was driving the wagan and it stalled out on her. Would not restart. Towed to independant Volvo repair shop. One week later they could not determine cause. The only code was p0300. They did replace all 5 plugs. I ended towing it to Volvo dealership. They called me and told me that I needed to replace all 5 plugs, coils, and repair a leaking oring on the fuel injector. Again the plugs are already new Volvo. I declined repairs. I could not afford the $700.00 estimate. Ordered 5 new coils from ebay. I repaired the Oring leak. I cleaned all the plugs and replaced the coils in the dealer parking lot. I found #5 plug broken. They would not sell me 1 plug. I could not afford to replace all 5 again. I bought a boshe plug and installed it. I cleared the codes and drove home. I could not keep the car running without keeping the foot on the gas. I drove it home 30 miles. Now it runs (rough) but on its own. There are several hard codes now.

I am hoping that someone will please guide me in the right path. I am hoping that I dont have to take bact to Volvo.
Thank you in advance for your help.

BTW this site has helped me in so many ways many many times. THANKS!!!

P0136 rear oxygen sensor
P0445 EVAP system - minor code
P0448 EVAP system - minor code
P0245 Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid
P0135 front oxygen sensor
P0037 rear oxygen sensor

After seeing those, things don't look as bad. At least several of them are oxygen sensor. Still, that's a weird collection of codes. I wonder if it is an electrical problem.

The first thing you should do now, is clear all the codes and see which ones come back.

haha I tried searching on "P0136 P0445 P0448 P0245 P0135 P0037 volvo", check out these 2 posts

http://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-c70- ... 655-20546/
Unfortunately never solved

Then this one
http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic/14 ... any-codes/
had this sequence of codes, almost the same bizarre collection as yours (note the first 6 codes!)
P0135 Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Heating Faulty Signal
P0445 Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted
P0448 Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit Shorted
P0245 Turbo Wastegate A Solenoid Low
P0037 Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0136 Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Faulty Signal
P1332 Manufacturer Controlled Ignition System Or Misfire
P1655 Manufacturer Controlled Computer Output Circuit
P0300 Misfire, At Least One Cylinder Signal Too High

This one (which also had a p0300!) a loose groundstrap mostly solved it. I would definitely check carefully around the engine for proper grounding.

Thank you. I will check this this evening. I am wondering if the dealer messed with something because I declined the repairs after they installed new parts on my car prior to my approval.

On a '98 model, there's a ground at the bottom by the oil pan/dipstick, one by the battery, and one on the back of the valve cover. And probably one I'm forgetting. I'd start with the one by the oil pan.

There are one ground strap from the valve cover on the left (passenger side) going to the frame under the AC line. The other one is by the top engine mount to the firewall. I replaced both since they are so corroded.

I'm sure there are more but check the one at the bottom as well. Check also the wiring to the ignition coils since it's possible it was either pinched somewhere on the right side or brittle.

The codes related to O2 sensors is surely caused by unburnt mix getting thru the catalytic converter.
2000 V70 XC SE with 150,000 miles, still going great !

lots of codes, have you checked B+ cable from batt to fusebox? need to do a voltage drop on this as a solid 12V helps the rest of electrical system work well. search voltage drop and read same for B+ cable

This DOES sound suspiciously like a low voltage problem.
It amazes me how many "professionals" overlook the basics
like a charging system and voltage check. With today's cars,
a stable power supply is CRITICAL to troublefree operation.
My Mantra?

Step 1 - Check the power supply...
Step 2 - CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY!

Now - Go get your meter out.
 Best of luck!
