850, lots of boost + how to go even faster?

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

were is the proof to were theses motors can only hold safly 300hp.they seemed better built to me than that.i can understand the auto trans, but motor should be safe around 350hp at least shouldnt it???from what i have seen any way, maybe im wrong.
its funny a suburu can hold 1000hp easily.

im just wondering cause i have been a motor head all my life, never had any attintion on ever owning a volvo until i was short on money and bought a cheap 850 95 glt, then i got into learning about them and seem to be a safe car for the family and a little fun to drive,so thats why i wants som hp numbers..i might drop a new garret motor in with new turbo 19t and everthing else.i have owned alot of fast cars in my life all american exept one until now make two...
1972 chevell ss 400 small block
1974 nova ss 383 stroker
1989 firebird 5.7 liter
1990 toyota supra turbo
1989 conquest tsi
1980 mailbu fully built 456 big block, dart heads eagle crank the hole works.10:03 1/4 mile all motor.
so i have been around my way of cars and new to this volvo thing ,but im thinking on making a serious sleeper,i have just found out i will have a little more money to spend if i want to do something like this, will have right at 7000 to spend.

No subaru engine can withstand 1000 hp without being FULLY built. Even then the stock block wouldn't last very long at all. You might get away with 750 or so on a built ej257 shortblock.
Sorry for getting off topic but that was too much to let go:) I am interested to see where/if you take this. Best of luck and post lots of pics!!

Hooooooly crap. I just have the feeling that we're all being trolled.

You're going to get ~285 hp with your money (all of your money). That's about it. Honestly, I'd find a used 628 ECU on eBay or at a junkyard. That'll get you 240 hp. Exhaust is cheap, intake is cheap, do silicone hoses with your Stage 0, then spend your money on a GOOD set of wheels and tires. Maybe even splurge on a set of Koni FSD shocks/struts.

These cars can be a lot of fun to drive when they're not rolling around all over the place, and 240 hp is more than enough to overload the front wheels.

A 500 hp Volvo 850 is only fun until your transmission explodes into confetti.

628 is the last three numbers in the bosch part number id. If you are interested in getting an ECU tune or have more questions feel free to contact me, I'm always happy to help.

For my personal car I have an 18T turbo, turbo back exhaust, and an ARD Blue tune. Last dyno put me at 295whp. It has more power than I have traction for even with 18's. I switched back to 16's now and it's worse LOL!

Don't get me wrong, it's great on the highway but around town it can be a handful if I get rowdy on the throttle.

Do this, including prerequisites listed below: http://www.ardideas.com/blue.html

Tuned for 18psi and is intended for cars with either the 18T, 19T, or K24 turbo. Can support all stock volvo injectors orange, white, blue, green. Requires the following supporting components: Downpipe, Catback exhaust, 18T/19T turbocharger. Typical gain of 62 WHP.

There's no point in having a car with lots of power that can't put the power down. Big, good tires are a good investment. Suspension upgrades are also a good investment.

If you're going over 300 hp, it's useless - not to mention will blow up your transmission. It's a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE and will never put that power to the ground. First corner, you're off the side of the road in a ditch in a cloud of smoke when you plow straight ahead.

I have pretty grippy tires on my S70, and even with a STOCK 240 hp, it still breaks traction pretty often and lights them up if you're on the gas pedal too hard. I hate driving it in rain.

Do what people are suggesting here and improve the handling characteristics of the car and do some modest power upgrades - twisty roads are where they really shine. They're not meant to be drag racers - you've got a little 2.3 liter engine (smaller than most 4-cylinder engines nowadays) that's completely gutless without the turbo to back it up, but pulls hard at high speeds. If you plan on doing more than 300 hp, it's time to sell that car and take your $7000 you'd spend on it and start looking into AWD models (V70R/S60R).

You may think we're being rude or unrealistic, but all we're trying to do is tell you what is and isn't realistic.
