HELP - 1986 240 DL - Driving and just quit & will not st
Please help. I bought a 1986 240 DL - was driving great. All of sudden slowed down to make a turn and car cut off. Would turn over like it wants to start but would not and still will not start. We have replaced fuel pumps - we're thinking it's the icu but not sure. We found a wire with a plug coming out under the hood - looks like from ignition but not attached to anything. Can not figure out what it is. Thanks and this website has been a blessing.

Pull down the carpet on the passenger side above the passengers feet. You will see a medium size white relay. This is your fuel pump relay and they go bad sometimes. Give it a few flicks with your finger and then see if it starts. You can get this relay for $20 from www.fpcgroton.com I bought mine at the dealer and it was $47 If you look in your repair manual it will show you how to bypass it to test it. I think this is your most likely culprit but there could be others
possibilities
air mass sensor (unplug to test, this puts car in limp home mode)

Thanks - I bought a new relay. Didn't work. We have replaced ignition coil, icm, fuel pump and now relay. It turns over like it wants to start but we have no spark to plugs. This is very frustrating. I really want this car to run - it's in perfect condition but I'm ready to give up. And when it died it was running great. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. The Air mass meter and distributor is so expensive but I guess they would be next?
