Trans fluid
2001 S40...tranny is slipping a tad. Thought I would do a drain and fill...never been done in it's life. What is the recommended fluid?

Volvo 1161540, type 3309, Toyota T-IV are the correct specs. You can get the T-IV at some Toyota dealers for $5 per qt. 3309 is hard to find and Volvo branded is priced WAY HIGH.
Get 9 Qts. 3 qts at a time and drive it a few miles between each drain n fill. If it has never been done you do not want to flush it. That is asking for trouble and is specifically recommended against by all the transmission professionals.
The dipstick is hidden down low in front and for sure do not take out a big bolt on top of trans thinking it is the fill plug. It is a band achor bolt and removing it is a NO-NO.
