Hood Struts S90

Post by VolvoMaven »

This morning when I tried to open the hood it was very stiff. After trying several gentle up and down actions I was finally able to open the hood to normal position. I have heard of these failing to keep hood in open position, but being very difficult to open is a new one on me. Anyway haved ordered new struts to see if that remedies the problem. Hood is not binding on the wipers or anywhere else that I can determine. Anyone else have had this issue?

Well, if there is a leak, then there would be a build up of moisture and rust. Just a worn out strut. Putting some lube on the chrome part should help prevent it from rusting in the future.

You may also want to lube your hinges. The crome part of the struts can be wiped with a rag with WD-40 on it.
