While working on my car (heater change out) i noted that a grey wire which comes from shifter to? (I think the key) was not connected. Although I took many items loose I dont recall taking it out. If it was out already- what is the effect? what is the purpose of it? As I put it all back together if it is not properly connected am I going to have a problem? I am really sure that someone else did it but cannot be sure.
Thanks
Kaitlyn

Hi Kaitlyn,
Does your grey wire have a yellow stripe on it? I did not know the answer right off the top of my head, but I was having a boring Saturday night and checked out the 960 wiring diagram. You can find it here on this site.
You said it came from the shifter. Looking at the P-Shift Lock and Auto Transmission wiring diagram, a grey wire with a yellow strip goes from the brake light switch to a fuse. If this is the wire you are talking about, I believe your rear brake lights will not come on when you push the brake pedal. That will be easy to test.
So check that out, and if your brake lights do not work, you probably found your answer. If not, post back and someone smarter than me will have a better idea I would think.
Good luck,
Dave

No yellow stripe. From what I can see it starts at the top center where it is plugged in to the shifter (top center). I can see it now because my console is off. It then goes to the Drivers side where it snakes around and it stops. I thought it might go to the steering area but it is not plugged in so am unsure.
It has a number on it 6819 215.
THanks for your assistance

Hi Kaitlyn,
Well I checked out the wiring diagram again and I found a possibility. I think it might be your rear fog light connection which is in the dashboard cable harness. Check and see if it works.
