V70 D5 Hard to get into gear

Post by jantel »

My 60,000 mile 2003 V70D5 is getting difficult to get into first or reverse when starting first thing in the morning.

When this happened in December I used the last of the warrantee miles to get it fixed by Hapstead Gatwick (UK), they claimed to have removed the transmisssion and lubed the clutch spline.

Problem is that 3 months later it has happened again, my local independant workshop says they have never heard of this problem, has anyone else ever experienced this ?

I'm no expert on manual tranny's, but perhaps the shifter linkage could be loose and in need of replacement. I know that this can cause such a problem that you described. Also could be slave or master cylinder, but not very likely with such low mileage.

Sean

Could be the linkage but the problem does go away after the first few gear shifts, there is noticable drag or slip from the clutch
