Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

I got it back together and runs great. If I would have had to pay the shop to do this it would have been 1500 + depending on how fast they figured it out. I took the pump to the shop and they got me another one ( $118.00 retail value) for free, but c'mon, if you put a water pump and timing belt in a car, you need more than 1 year 12,000 mile warranty. Thats a joke when your talking about something that should last almost 100,000 miles!

I was searching through the forums trying to find a reference to my particular issue but I was unable to find anything like it. I have had all kinds of overheating problems with vehicles before, but this one perplexes me quite a bit.

When I drive normally, normal acceleration and normal acceleration during merging, it runs fine no white smoke. As soon as I flog her a little bit(1/2 or 3/4 throttle) and then come to a stop, I seem a plume of white smoke from the hood. As soon as I shut the car off and pop the hood, its gone. So, I can not tell where it is originating.

Also, the car is giving NO MESSAGES or any indication of overheating, but you can clearly smell it once you exit the vehicle. Can't smell it in the vehicle, heater is working fine, temperature gauge is not fluctuating at all, and no apparent leaks whatsoever.

This is childish to ask, but you did not say. Are you using coolant? How much, how often?

I would suggest using a strong light and really looking at the heater hoses and connections. Also, the expansion tank cap may be loosing its grip and allowing leakage.

Good Luck

Ken
