Test drove a 1995 940 Turbo the other day, 147K miles, 2 owners, fairly well maintained. Will be the first car for my 16 year old son.
Going back for a second & closer inspection tomorrow.
Only known issue is leaking sunroof. The car is being sold through a used car dealership for the p.o., he told them he was quoted around $200 to fix sunroof - it currently has tape over it.
I do most work myself, had a 240 for 9 years, am 4 years into my S70 so DIY is fine. Am planning to just unplug the sunroof drains for now & fix the sunroof next summer.
Anything else I should check carefully on a 940T? Steering seemed a bit loose but maybe just compared to the fwd S70, been a while since I had the 240.
Thanks
Mike

What does your son think of driving this car? I bought my 88 765 from a man who had bought it for his daughters to drive to school. They wouldn't drive the car. They would have rather caught a ride with friends than be seen driving a Volvo.

He actually thinks it's a pretty cool car. His main desires are a large trunk for golf clubs (his and 2 or 3 friends), a decent radio (mostly sports radio), and a good cup holder. The 940 lacks the cup holder but we'll just get an after market to attach to the door or dash.
By the way - I bought the car tonight, $3300 which isn't too bad, asking price was $4000. Found out the p.o. not only taped sunroof, he also put some type of calking in there, it may be a mess. The rest of the car is in pretty good shape, includes records etc.

I didn't know they made the 940 in '95. Here is what I did to my 960 sunroof:

95 was the last model year for the 940. I have read it was one of the best years. I'll have to check the sunroof in the rain to see if it leaks between the seal and glass. Thanks for the instructions, unfortunately I may be in for more of a mechanical problem with the motor & open/close mechanisms.

I don't think its the Volvo stigma, but the station wagon stigma. And the square brick stigme. Kids want a cool sports car not a square station wagon.lummert wrote:88 765 for his daughters to drive to school. They wouldn't drive the car. JUst get em a bumper sticker that says "Drive like a Cullen" and they will be the coolest kids in school

You can get an original Volvo padded armrest/cupholder on eBay. Nice quality and has front and rear cupholders.

Not quite relevant for the post, but I'm a college freshman looking at a '94 945 and my high-school-aged sister told me tonight she would not be caught within 50 feet of it.
Taking "Volvo. For Life." to a whole new level!
