I have come up with another solution to a repair rather than replacement of this problem which caused the interior door lever to jam and unoperable.
The pin attached to the end of the wire operating the catch release when operating interior door handle kept on jamming as there was nothing to prevent the pin sliding vertically in its slot and causing the mechanism to jam. As the plastic catch anchoring the cable to the door catch mechanism I could not determine how it was designed to remain in the correct position.
After checking out the cable tie and electrical wire solutions on the forum, which are necessary if the plastic clip is broken,
I cut an approx 9mm wide strip off an old credit card and slid this along the top of the moving part of the mechanism
This provides a sufficiently slippery but stiff surface for the mechanism to continue operating but stiff enough to trap the vertical movement of the pin on the end of the cable from the catch.
After sliding as far forward as possible trim the credit card shim to the correct length and trap in place by the plastic clip( or even tape may work).
All reassembled now seems to be working correctly.
