turn signal sound

Hi there. I have a 2003 Volvo S40. When we were on a trip, the turn signal sound just kept on coming on without us doing anything. It is doing it more often now. Something that is unrelated: when we went 80 miles an hour on cruise control, it also would skip a little occasionally so I would apply the brake a bit and then it would be fine. Thanks.
