check engine-no throttle

2000 s80 has check engine/emissions service message. aux fan runs on also. no throttle - won't go. trunk won't open with inside button - have to use key. Believe car is being immobilized somehow. All advice or answers appreciated.

What have you checked so far? Please share the error codes the vehicle has so others can give you advice.

Its kind of a rule here that you must do the initial legwork of getting the codes and sharing what you have checked so far.

Most local part stores check the codes for free so they are easy to get if you do not yet own a code reader.

Post that info and I am sure many will help you.

thanks for the response. don't own a code reader and car is immobilized so can't get anywhere. need to get it rolling. guess i will try to erase codes and see what happens on start-up.

If the car starts but wont move, you likely have a linkage problem. Does it start? If it does start, can you rev the engine? If the motor does rev, if you shift the shifter, can you feel it go into gear? Remember we are not there and have no idea what is going on, paint a good picture.

s80 is drive by wire so - no mech. linkage. auto starts and will go into gear but, would not rev. disconneted battery and shorted batt cables. started and driven until stopped when the symptoms re-appeared. last time it wouldn't go it turned out to be the turbo inlet hose was disconnected. hoping for an easy (duh) solution.
